Portfolio v5

After putting it off for over a year, I’ve finally launched my latest portfolio (version 5).

I kept it minimal this time, only showcasing a small sample of work and a bio section. The reel is still in the works, but I’m hoping to complete it in the coming weeks.

Blog Refresh 2010

I finally got a chance to have a site refresh on my blog. I decided to move away from gray tones (my usual color of choice), to a more vibrant and colorful look-and-feel. I also switched from Moveable Type to WordPress for the back-end. WordPress rocks all the way! It’s super easy to install, and I hardly had any issues importing all my blog posts from Movable Type. I also love the community and their willingness to share templates and plug-ins.

I am also really close to completing my folio site. It should be completed in the next couple of days, so stay tuned.

Arkansas 2009

Maybe the third time will be the charm. After my second trip to Arkansas, I was hoping that this will be the year I’ll finally get to see the all the vibrant colors of fall. Last year, we went at around the middle of October and, unfortunately, found out that we were a couple weeks too early. We only managed to see patchy colors, with the majority of the leaves still green. But this year, we went on the first week of November which, according to weather analysts and blog enthusiast, was the perfect time to see the rich fall colors. But when we got there, it was a horrific. Because of the heavy rain it received the past few weeks, the leaves never peaked and we ended up with dried-up, merciless, depressed, and tortured remains.

Well, maybe it wasn’t that bad. But because of the unexpected turnout, we got to see the other beauties of Arkansas. There is so much to see here, and the sunsets here are breathtaking. Here are a few selected pictures taken during the trip.

Sagmeister on TED

One of my favorite designers, Stefan Sagmeister, gives a very enlightening presentation:

FITC Mobile 2009

I’m looking forward to attending the FITC Mobile Conference in Toronto from September 12-14. I’ve tinkered around with the iPhone SDK and read up on Android a bit, but I’ve yet to create a fully working app. I’m taking both the iPhone and Android Development pre-conference workshops. The cool part about the iPhone workshop is that it targets flash developers, which is a good thing, because I don’t have any experience with Objective C. Hopefully, this will get my feet wet, and I’ll have a better understanding of the mobile world.

Another thing I’m looking forward to on the trip is the Toronto International Film Festival which is being held the same week. I’m hoping I’ll be to catch a couple of movies while I’m there. I’ll also need to brush up on my Chinese as well.
