HDR Photography

I’ve been tinkering around with HDR images a lot lately. If you’ve never heard of HDR (high dynamic range imaging), it’s “a technique that allow a greater dynamic range of luminances between the lightest and darkest areas of an image”. This can be done by taking photos with multiple exposure settings. A lot of DSLR camera have exposure bracketing, which allows you to automatically shoot multiple photos at different exposures. But this requires a tripod. Sometimes, if I don’t have a tripod, I just make sure that I shoot in RAW format. I can then use Adobe Camera Raw to export out the same photo with different exposure settings. For the HDR processing, I use Photomatrix Pro. Below are a few HDR photos I took.

Snowfall DFW

After one of the heaviest snowfalls to ever hit the Dallas area, I couldn’t help but to pull out my camera and start shooting. Although I took plenty, only a few came out good. Below are a few photos shot:

Arkansas 2009

Maybe the third time will be the charm. After my second trip to Arkansas, I was hoping that this will be the year I’ll finally get to see the all the vibrant colors of fall. Last year, we went at around the middle of October and, unfortunately, found out that we were a couple weeks too early. We only managed to see patchy colors, with the majority of the leaves still green. But this year, we went on the first week of November which, according to weather analysts and blog enthusiast, was the perfect time to see the rich fall colors. But when we got there, it was a horrific. Because of the heavy rain it received the past few weeks, the leaves never peaked and we ended up with dried-up, merciless, depressed, and tortured remains.

Well, maybe it wasn’t that bad. But because of the unexpected turnout, we got to see the other beauties of Arkansas. There is so much to see here, and the sunsets here are breathtaking. Here are a few selected pictures taken during the trip.

Forth Worth Zoo

This was my second trip to the zoo. When I came the first time, the animals appeared tired and were very inactive. For some reason, the animals today were much more active. Here are some shots I took:

My 4th of July was drenched with hard-pouring rain. Luckily, I got light up a few at my parent’s backyard. A couple of photos below.
